Did you just have an interview and not feeling confident? Are you not sure how it went? Has it been

weeks since the Manager followed up with you? Perhaps there was something that went on in your

interview that you weren’t aware of. Maybe some bad interview habits that you practiced that you

didn’t even know you were doing. I am here to help you correct those bad interview habits. Here are my

7 things NOT to do in an interview.

1. Bad mouthing your last employer is a huge turn off to hiring managers. Make sure you always

talk positive about your last Manager and company even if it was a bad experience. Figure out

how to put a positive spin on your description of your last job.

2. Your outfit is everything. Inappropriate fashion while interviewing is a horrible sign to hiring

managers. Dress the part. Jeans and ripped shirt may not be your best choice.

3. Put your cell phone in your purse or in your pocket and turn it off. There is nothing worse in

interviewing someone and their phone goes off onto annoying ring. It shows disrespect to the

person who is meeting with you.

4. Body language is everything. Never cross your arms. It shows you are disinterested. Always keep

your arms open. It shows your future Manager that you are open to the future with them.

5. Spit your gum out please! Never go to an interview with gum in your mouth. However, please

putting a mint in your mouth is acceptable before the meeting.

6. Don’t come to the interview without knowing who the company is. Research the company

before your interview. Know what the company is all about before going into your meeting. It

will impress the hiring manager that you came prepared.

7. Keep it professional. Never ask a hiring manager personal questions like if they are married or

where they live.
